Diddy's alleged punch victim facing jail

Steven Acevedo, the man who accused Sean “Diddy” Combs of punching him in the face at a New York nightclub, was in court on Thursday facing a charge that he had a forged police plaque in his car window.

The 31-year-old was taken into custody Aug. 27 in SoHo when police spotted him driving around with the forged NYPD plaque. The offense is a misdemeanor that can carry up to a year in jail, reports the New York Daily News.

Acevedo reportedly sat quietly while the case was adjourned to Nov. 27 for either a trial or a plea, authorities said.

As previously reported, Diddy is accused of hitting Acevedo twice in the mouth last Saturday at Kiosk in an altercation over a blonde woman that Acevedo used to date. Police said they were still investigating and planning to charge Diddy in the case, but the mogul’s lawyer claims the matter will be settled out of court.

Acevedo is no stranger to the courts: he has sued the police department twice for alleged abuse and been busted for drugs, authorities said.
