5 things to know about Yung Joc
The Southeastern Battle of the Bands takes place Sunday at 3 p.m. at Legion Field. As if the middle school, high school and college bands aren’t entertainment enough, rapper Yung Joc will be hosting the proceedings. Tickets are $12 in advance (through the schools, JB’s House of Fashions, Golden Corral, Music-N-More) and $15 day of show. First, though, here are some things you might want to know about Yung Joc:
Southern star
Believe it or not, Yung Joc isn’t his real name. He was born Jasiel Robinson in Atlanta in April 1983. That makes him 23.
Music roots
Yung Joc was discovered by Russell “Block” Spencer, who teamed with Bad Boy South (P. Diddy’s company) to produce his first record.
What’s going down
“It’s Goin’ Down,” the first single from his album “New Joc City,” was a huge success, hitting the top 5 on the charts. His second single, “I Know You See It,” is also selling well.
So you think you can dance
True Yung Joc fans can perform the “motorcycle move,” a dance he used in the video for “It’s Goin’ Down.”
Yung and single
Yung Joc doesn’t have a girlfriend. In fact, he told one newspaper he’s as “single as a dollar bill folded in your left pocket.”
