Danity Kane's second album completed, due 2008

The most informative member of Danity Kane, Dawn Richards, revealed that the all-girl group’s new studio album has been completed. On her official blog, Richards wrote that fans would be “surprised” of the record.

Elephant Man to get "physical" with new album

Elephant Man, will drop his new album called “Let’s Get Physical” on June 26th. The “energy God” last dropped a set in 2003 called, “Good 2 Go.”

During his hiatus, Elephant Man did singles that attracted Hip Hop Mogul Sean Diddy Combs who in turn signed the ‘Energy God’ to his label Bad Boy Entertainment. “The signing is a fulfillment of one of my objectives in the musical industry,” the Energy God said in describing that aim as crossing over and attracting top labels.

Danity Kane keeping the 'show' going on new CD

The show isn’t stopping for Danity Kane. The “Making the Band 3” quintet, whose self-titled album debuted at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 last August and launched the hits “Show Stopper” and “Ride for You,” plans a fall release for its sophomore set and is already working on tracks for the as-yet-untitled project.

“We’re working on our new album as we speak,” the group’s Aubrey O’Day tells, adding, “Most of the stuff we’re working on right now is our own stuff we’re writing and producing ourselves, within the group, and hopefully will get some placement.”

Notorious B.I.G.'s epic Life After Death lives strong 10 years later

Ten years ago, on March 25, 1997, the Notorious B.I.G. released his epic double-LP, Life After Death. Probably the closest thing to listening to Biggie on the album is watching Kobe Bryant score 81 points against the Toronto Raptors. Biggie was effortless, flawless, inexorable.

By the time Life After Death was finished, shortly before Biggie’s death on March 9 of that year, there was no doubt that he was the king and that the rest of the world was starting to get lapped. Nobody in rap was making more hits.

The plan was to listen to tracks from his first album in five years, “Press Play,” on a ride to his Midtown Manhattan apartment. There he would join his kids, his beefy entourage and a chicer pair of sunglasses, then a luxury car convoy would roll to the projects uptown. After the game, he would pay his street-marketing respects to a Harlem neighborhood where he once lived. He would finish an interview as he drove his Ferrari convertible home, then he and his family would hop on a jet to St.-Tropez, where he was giving one of his celebrity-studded “white parties.”

This is a very suprising debut album. If you thought Me & U was as good as it got for Cassie try understanding the sheer quality of her debut from Ryan Leslie’s Next Selection through Diddy’s Bad Boy Records Empire.

Surprisingly Diddy doesn’t produce or write a single track, however who needs him to when Ryan Leslie pulls off the quality he does here. A signature sound is a phrase that springs to my, but more importantly it is the close knitt relationship between R-Les and Cassie which makes this album a masterpiece.

Three years after area residents tuned in to watch American Juniors to cheer on local vocal finalist Jordan McCoy, McCoy is releasing her first CD.

“It takes a long time to do it, to do it right and get everything done,” McCoy said of recording her first album. “When you think about it, I’m 14 – almost 15 – and in the big picture, that’s soon.”

Press Play on Diddy's October LP

Diddy has scrapped the PDV (PD Five) album name he’s been working with for the past year. The official title for his October 3 release is now simply Press Play, an ode to Puff’s vow to not overhype his LP.

“I’m known for dramatic titles — ‘Unforgivable’ the cologne, [the albums] No Way Out, Forever, The Saga Continues,” he said yesterday in his Daddy’s House Studios. “I’ve evolved a little bit. Studied the game, been a part of it, had success. It all comes down to pressing play. After you press play, it’s gonna make or break you in this game. That’s where I’m at. We about to press play on October 3, and hopefully I can make people feel good.”

Cheri Dennis preps debut album

On MTV's Making of the Band Season Three, Bad Boy singer Cheri Dennis' name came up when P. Diddy made his talented group of young ladies learn her sweet single, “I Love You.”

Dennis, who is now prepping her self-titled debut album for a June 13 release, learned from the experience.

Comment “On one hand, I thought since they were singing my song it may cause a little confusion of whose song it was,” says Dennis. “Then on the other hand, 50 million people watched that show so to get that kind of exposure for my name was incredible.”

Dennis and the Bad Boy team have recruited the services of hit producers like Timbaland, Rodney Jerkins and Mario Yellow Man Winans for her impending album.
